Service and Mission
Dedicated to proclaiming boldly the Gospel in word and deed, the Community first and foremost offers the witness of radical Christian living and communion with one another in Christ. It seeks to be a sign of the in-breaking of God's Kingdom in the city of Brighton.
St Benedict says all guests should be welcomed as Christ (RB53).
The Community offers hospitality to others in a variety of ways, providing opportunities for encounter with Christ through prayer groups and community events - especially in St Joseph's Parish - retreats at Benedictine monasteries, and spiritual friendship. Members of the Community are involved in wider service and ministry including teaching and preaching the faith, youth work, school chaplaincy, retreat work, and prison befriending/letter writing. We run Deep Waters, a weekly prayer group for students and young adults which meets every Thursday evening, and offer hospitality to all young adults in the parish every Sunday by hosting Sunday lunch.
